You don’t always need to pick up a hammer to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties…

Volunteer at our new Restore!

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is sustained by volunteers who donate their time and energy to a cause they believe in! With the help of local donations made by generous people – including businesses, decorators, home stagers, contractors and homeowners – we support Habitat for Humanity’s work and mission throughout our region. Proceeds of every sale go towards building and maintaining affordable homes and revitalizing neighborhoods in our community. Thanks to our committed volunteers, we are able to provide affordable home improvement items and furniture to local families, while also diverting usable materials from local landfills each year.

ReStore is looking for volunteers who:

  • Want to give back to their community
  • Love working with people
  • Are interested in working in a fun and fast paced retail-warehouse type environment
  • Volunteers looking for flexible, casual half and full day volunteer shifts.

Here are the ReStore volunteer positions we need most:

  • Sales Associates/Customer Service: Greeting patrons, assisting with purchases, and finalizing sales at POS register.
  • Lifters/Loaders: Load and unload large/heavy items from a truck and move them to/from the sales floor and customer vehicles.
  • Merchandisers: Receive, sort, clean, price, and organize smaller merchandise onto the sales floor.
  • Cleaners: Dust and sweep the store and/or deep clean large items such as appliances to prepare to be sold.
  • Office Support: Be a part of the support team behind the scenes. From recruiting and engaging fellow volunteers, to helping coordinate our donations, to filing and organizing, to marketing, PR, and social media- there is always work to be done!

Ready to pick up a hammer?

Few things in life are more rewarding than seeing the gratitude expressed by a new homeowner when they are presented with the keys to their new home. The knowledge that you were able to help a family realize a dream and a new beginning can be tremendously satisfying.

Habitat is founded on its volunteers, and it takes dozens to complete a build. Our affiliate builds on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

In many cases, no formal experience in the trades is necessary, just a desire to help and the ability to cheerfully take direction. For any task you are asked to do, we can provide the needed instruction and safety information.

We are always looking for volunteers with or without construction skills:  Crew leaders, greeters, hammer swingers, sandwich makers, all are welcome!

Habitat building usually happens on Saturdays from 8:30 to 4pm. Occasionally, we will in very special cases build during the week.
  • If you would like to volunteer , please RSVP to [email protected], we want to make sure we have enough lunch for everyone and that we don’t overload the job site to an unsafe level. We love our volunteers and want to make sure they are all safe, well feed, and have the ability to really participate. RSVP’ing will ensure that.
  • Can children under 18 volunteer on a Habitat build site? Yes, but subject to certain restrictions. First, they must be a minimum of 14 years old to work on site. Children between 14 and 16 can do limited work such as landscaping; no construction activity. Children between 16 and 18 can engage in general construction activities, but cannot do excavation or demolition or work with power tools. Children under 14 may be on site to help with lunches and snacks, under the supervision of an adult. Parents of anyone working or present on the job site must first sign a release and waiver of liability form before their child comes on site.
