Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties

Applicants:

We are pleased that you are interested in the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties program. We are an ecumenical program, based on Christian principles. An application form may be obtained using the link to the left in the navigation bar, once you have read the information presented below.

Here are some guidelines to keep in mind when considering your application:

• The home for which you are applying is a basic practical structure.
• This application will be reviewed by the Family Selection Committee. Those families meeting the local HABITAT criteria as potential homeowners will be personally interviewed in the present living quarters.
• Families will be selected based on the following criteria:
  1. Demonstrated financial need (not able to obtain a mortgage through standard channels).
  2. Residence and/or employment in Warren, Washington or northern Saratoga Counties.
  3. Present living quarters are considered substandard.
  4. Meet HABITAT financial guidelines.
  5. Exhibited willingness to participate in the program.
• If you are being considered as a potential HABITAT homeowner, you will be required to pay for a credit report. The cost for this report will be twenty dollars ($20) or less.
• Each family is also expected to provide 500 hours of volunteer labor (sweat equity), defined on another page.
• If you are selected, you will be required to have saved a specified amount of money to cover closing costs on your HABITAT home (approximately $2,000).
  
• You will purchase this house with a 20-year no-interest mortgage. Your monthly payments will be determined on this basis plus money required to be escrowed for taxes, insurance, etc. Recent payments have ranged from $400 - $600.
  

Please respond to the attached application accurately and completely. It is necessary to obtain this information from you to determine eligibility for the program. You should also review the Sweat Equity requirements, and provide all the Items to be Submitted with the application.
